On 21 and 22 November 2024, ARTICLE 19, Università di Trento, Université de Namur, Hertie School’s Centre for Digital Governance and the Amsterdam Centre for European Law and Governance hosted a symposium on “DMA Enforcement: Trends and gaps in the first year of application” in Brussels. David Führer presented a working paper on how the DMA deals with payment systems. He discussed the obligations related to Article 5(7) DMA, the provision’s relation to other DMA provisions, and he shed light upon the compliance side among gatekeepers. The respective panel, chaired by Anna Rita Bennato, further consisted of Megan Kirkwood, Kati Cseres, Pankhudi Khandelwal, Anna Marchese, and Lena Hornkohl, a former visiting researcher with The Hub who discussed and commented on David´s paper.
