At the annual seminar of the Institute of Business Law, which took place at Neusiedl/See on 30 and 31 January 2025, The Hub’s David Führer presented his research into the payment systems that are covered by the Digital Markets Act (DMA). He particularly highlighted the difficulty of implementing Article 5(7) DMA in practice. Verena Strasser, the Vice-Federal Cartel Prosecutor of Austria, discussed a new competence that the Federal Cartel Prosecutor’s Office gained in 2024: the power to recognise and supervise so-called qualified entities, ie organisations that have the right to bring collective actions. Her focus was on competition law claims that qualified entities may bring.
