Is there any role left for market definition in the Digital Markets Act (DMA)? On 19 May 2022, Vicky Robertson took part in a panel discussion on “Economic Analysis in the DMA”, organised by the European University Institute and hosted by Bird & Bird in Brussels. She argued that while the concepts of the relevant market and of dominance may have been replaced by other concepts in the DMA, notably the core platform services and gatekeeper positions, market definition may creep in again when trying to understand the market dynamics in those digital platform markets and ecosystems.
