At the 131st GCLC lunch talk on 16 March 2023, Thomas Büttner (Chief Economist’s Team, DG COMP), Vanessa Turner (BEUC) and Vicky Robertson discussed the impending update of the Market Definition Notice with Damien Gerard (Belgian Competition Authority). Vicky Robertson focused on the delineation of multi-sided markets and ecosystem delineation. In the discussion, the impact of market definition on the competitive assessment were of particular interest, not least when it comes to the question which user sides a consumer benefit needs to be passed on to.
